The most obvious difference between the two types of Cricut machine is the size. The Cricut Expression is much larger than the Cricut Create and as such, it is best occupying a relatively permanent place on your worktable or wherever you usually do your cutting. One might say that the Expression is a bigger and better version of the Create, as it allows you to cut images as small as 0.25" or as large as 23.5". It also gives you more room for creativity since it works well either with a 12"x12" or 12"x24" sized paper. The other features of the Cricut Expression that are not present in the Create gives you the ability to mix and match images in a single cut and cut in either landscape or portrait position. This model also has a new LCD screen that allows you to see the image that you are preparing for the next cut and it has the ability to change settings such as units of measurement. Best of all, it allows you to use all the available Cricut cartridges in one cut.
But for all of their differences, both Cricut machines still use the same blades, blade housings and cartridges. This is good news indeed for those who want to upgrade from the Cricut Create to the Cricut Expression. Another good news is that the new machine still allows you to create your designs without the use of a computer, just like the original machine does. As one examines the capabilities of the Cricut Expressions compared to Cricut Create, it becomes clear that those who create artworks mainly for instruction aids, banners, party decorations, and the like will benefit more from the Expressions machine than from Create. If, however, you only need to cut images no bigger than 5 ½ inches, or if you need to move your cutting machine from time to time, then the Create is still your best option. The Cricut Expressions, after all, was designed only as an extension of the original Cricut machine and it is not meant to replace the Create. Instead, it provides a wider range of options for individuals with highly differing requirements for their craft.Related posts:
