Making Your Ideas Stick – Cricut Adhesive Tips
To attach your CriCut designs to whatever base you have in mind will depend on the type of material you are using. The materials offered by the CriCut company are recommended for use, but you can use any paper or cardstock that you like. However, the vinyl that is available thru CriCut comes adhesive backed already, so there is no need for any additional adhesive.
Be sure to use a heavy gauged paper with your projects, some thinner papers have a tendency to show adhesive through them, i.e.; crate paper, tissue paper, or any other thin material. However if the lighter paper is required for your projects, use as little adhesive as possible. For paper the most often used adhesives include spray adhesive, roll-ons, double sided cuttable adhesive sheets, glue sticks and of course simple white glue or paste. The adhesive, in this matter, is your choice.

For heavier materials such as cardstock, foam, cork, fabrics, plastics etc., some preferred adhesives are putty, hot glue, spray-ment (a heavy duty spray adhesive), heavy duty liquid glues and some double sided adhesive sheets. Again this is up to the users preference. Whenever you are dealing with the heavier materials, however, a fast-drying adhesive is definitely recommended, to avoid any displacement of the design pieces.
Before you decide on your adhesive of choice be sure to consider the material you will be adhering your cut-outs to. Scrap bookers prefer the much lighter adhesives to avoid any extra "bulk" when the pages are closed, such as sprays, glue sticks, and double sided adhesive sheets. A good billboard or sign, however, would require a heavier adhesive such as rubber cement, hot glue, liquid glues or putty, to help maintain structure when touched or exposed to drafts and crowds. All factors should be taken into consideration when choosing your adhesive, and never use your adhesive before cutting.
